Sustainability

Discover South Bruce Peninsula is committed to improving the economic, social and environmental sustainability of South Bruce Peninsula’s tourism industry by 2030. We proudly signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge with a goal to lead and inspire stakeholder efforts that balance the needs of businesses, visitors, the environment, and our host communities. Together, we can work towards creating sustainable, and ultimately regenerative, tourism.

As you plan your trip, we have some simple tips on visiting responsibly that will make your visit both smooth and enjoyable.

Tips for Visiting Responsibly

Park it

In our rural community, parking can be at a premium at times. Plan ahead to find out where the best parking options are close to your destination. If possible, park further away and enjoy the walk or better yet, bike from the cottage and avoid parking all together. No one likes searching for a parking spot when you could already be on the beach. Obey all posted signs and pay for parking when required.

Markets

There’s no better way to connect to your destination than by adding local ingredients to your menu. Our farmer’s markets and local food stores will help you add some local meat to your bbq and some local flavours to your holiday. Whether you’re looking for a butcher, a baker, a farm-store with local honey and maple syrup or some freshly caught whitefish from Georgian Bay, our farmer’s markets and local food stores have you covered.
