Summer crowds have faded, the forests are glowing in shades of gold and crimson, and cooler temperatures make every outdoor adventure even more rewarding. Fall is one of the best times to discover South Bruce Peninsula—whether you’re camping beneath the stars, cycling scenic backroads, or paddling quiet waters in search of your next great catch, there’s a fall adventure waiting for you.

Autumn is an amazing time to camp in South Bruce Peninsula, quieter campgrounds, warm days for hiking among the fall colours, beach days with Lake Huron waters that have warmed up all summer and cool nights for campfires and stargazing.
If you want to be close to Sauble Beach, seasonal campgrounds like Carson’s Camp and Woodland Park are a short walk to the sandy shore. Nearby Trillium Woods Campground in Oliphant and Red Bay Tent and Trailer Camp put you within driving distance to the Red Bay beach on Lake Huron and Spry Lake.
Combine a weekend of camping with an Anishinaabe cultural experience at Cape Croker Park. Don’t want to pitch your own tent? Consider their beach front cabins as a glamping option.
Stay right on the water and have your own private beach access at Roth Family Campground on Berford Lake or Hope Bay Campground.
Disconnect, reconnect and explore our campgrounds this fall.

Cycle your way across South Bruce Peninsula on our quiet roads or hit the trails at the region’s newest mountain bike club. Add some local food stops to your gravel ride or hit the beach after a single track cardio trail ride.
For road cyclists, the Coast to Coast route from Explore The Bruce takes you on a 46-kilometre beginner friendly flat ride that begins and ends in Wiarton. Stop at Suntrail Outfitters in Hepworth, visit Sauble Falls, the Oliphant Fen and Rural Rootz Garden before returning to Wiarton.
If you’re looking to hit the trails, the newly established Peninsula Mountain Bike Club in Hepworth has established 8 kilometres of trail at the Sawmill Ski Trails. Adult, youth and family memberships as well as day passes are available here.
The Mountain Bike Adventure Park just north of Wiarton is also a great destination that features over 15 kilometres of challenging single- and double-track trails, plus a 3.5 km family-friendly gravel loop and a pump track at the trailhead.
Turn your ride into a weekend adventure by combining cycling with local food stops, fall camping and scenic lookouts.

Whether you prefer a peaceful paddle or casting a line after sunrise, fall offers calm conditions and unforgettable scenery. Whether you’re paddling below the Niagara Escarpment in Wiarton, finding a quiet evening on Lake Huron with a SUP or spending the day on the Rankin or Sauble River, there’s a paddle for you here.
If you’re hitting the river, this route from Explore The Bruce will help you plan a Sauble River trip. Canoe, kayak, SUP and fishing rowboat rentals are available at the Sauble River Marina. Outer Vision Adventure Tours offer guided paddles along with canoe and kayak shuttles to make your trip easier along the Rankin River, Sauble River, Oliphant and the Fishing Islands.
The knowledgeable staff at Suntrail Source for Adventure can not only help you plan your paddle and rent you the necessary gear, they offer private kayak skills lessons for those learning to sea kayak. Stop by their Hepworth store to plan your trip.
